5 Console Games with Fun Casino Mini-Games

The number of console games with massive worlds is increasing every year. Of course, we are primarily talking about open-world games, although other options exist. As a result, developers are looking for ways to fill these worlds with diverse activities. One of those activities that is very popular among players is playing fun casino mini-games.

If you are looking for such a thing, we invite you to stay with our short guide in which you will find a list and a brief description of 5 such great options.

Far Cry 3

We’ll start with a rather old video game, part of the Far Cry series. Far Cry 3 is one of the best first-person shooters of all time. It was released in 2012 when it became available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

One of the main reasons why players loved this console game was its setting – you play on a beautiful tropical archipelago known as Rook Islands. The second reason is probably the presence of mini-games, including one that can be qualified as a casino mini-game.

Many players still revisit the island, where they can play poker and prepare themselves for playing real money casino games, in which they get to utilize the classic casino gameplay, with the famous No-Limit Texas Hold’em poker. This mini-game reflects the overall experience of online casinos, with its simplicity, excitement, and convenience, encompassing five different poker locations, where players can break away from the main game and enjoy themselves at a high-stakes poker table.

In total, there are 5 locations on Rook Islands where you can enjoy this card game. You can choose from four difficulties: Practice (no wager required), Novice, Skilled, and Expert.

Obviously, with higher levels of difficulty comes a more significant risk and a chance to hit bigger wins. We should also note that this is the Texas Hold ‘em poker variant.

Super Mario Odyssey

Nintendo Switch fans who want to try casino mini-games have a unique opportunity to enjoy them on the screen of this device (or on the TV, which is also an option when using this console). They have multiple options, but Super Mario Odyssey is one of the best among them.

As you probably guessed, Super Mario Odyssey is part of the Super Mario series. It’s an enjoyable platform game where you put yourself in Mario’s shoes (and hat). Your objective is to save Princess Peach.

Still, this doesn’t mean you can’t take a break with a mini-game occasionally. One of these mini-games is slots. You can play slots in several kingdoms in this game. A spin in a slot game will cost you 10 coins. Some of these slots have three reels, while others have five reels. Instead of classic slot symbols, you can expect symbols from the series.

It goes without saying that you expect to get rewarded only by matching three or five identical symbols on a payline. This way, you can win life-up hearts, regular hearts, power moons, and 40 coins.

Dead Rising 2

Casino mini-games in horror-themed video games? Sure, why not? Dead Rising 2 was released in 2010 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was upgraded for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after that. This action-adventure game by Capcom was inspired by stories about zombie apocalypse.

Like in the case of Super Mario Odyssey, the main character (Chuck) can play short games for prestige points or money. You must pay a fee to play any of these mini-games. The good thing is that you can try various casino game modifications.

For instance, you can try the Killer Blackjack mini-game, where you can hit, stand, or double down. Other than this, the basic rules of blackjack apply. We should also mention the Wild West Poker Draw! This mini-game requires a low entry fee. Players get five cards, and the game lets them hold and/or change some of them. The objective is to get a paying hand. This is basically a variant of video poker.

Additionally, players can play slot games. The mini-games are available in various locations, including Americana Casino, Slot Ranch Casino, and Atlantica Casino.

Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 is the only title on this list with versions for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. This action-packed role-playing first-person shooter was launched in 2019. Like most of these titles, it has a main quest but also includes side missions.

Even though the casino-mini games (slot machines in this case) were introduced in Borderlands 2, they were modified and improved in their sequel. So, you can expect four different types of slot machines in Borderlands 3 located in Sanctuary III.

These machines have unique appearances. For instance, the Loot Boxer includes a Psycho character and provides trinkets, weapons, money, eridium, and weapon skins to the luckiest players. On the other hand, we have the so-called Tink’s Hijinx slot machine, which, as you have probably guessed, features a Tink. With some luck, you can win money, grenade mods, and shields here.

Furthermore, the Cash Trap! Machines featuring Claptrap provide rewards through class mods, money, room decorations, and eridium. Finally, the Vault Line machines provide artifacts, shields, weapons, and grenade mods.
